Jump after your Heart

Silverwalk is a small, private, licensed dog sanctuary in Cape Girardeau County, MO. It specializes in Beagles, other hounds, and senior, special needs dogs. There are always dogs needing adoption and sponsorship. Please see our website for more information about Silverwalk and our dogs needing homes.

I pray this is a heartfelt, loving Valentine's Day for you in the best and most varied of senses. The dogs here at Silverwalk are all doing well - Scout is recuperating from his initial heart worm treatment, tolerating his crate rest pretty well. Puppy Lulu had an adoption inquiry which I need to follow up w/her fosters - she is such a loving puppy but she is such a puppy :). Mimi, the "senior portly" Beagle who came w/Agnes from NW AR, diagnosed w/bilateral arthritic back legs, has been on her diet and glucosamine supplements to the point where I can say she is a NEW dog - she jumped the baby gate!! Her personality is glowing. Now, someone needs to adopt this charming dog - if a 10 year old dog can win Best in Show at Westminster Kennel Club, surely there is a family out there for Mimi!

Sometimes things don't work out the way I would like due to regulations :(. I wanted to bring in 3 Beagles this past weekend but they were "owned" by a city pound which was not licensed in MO. SWH is licensed, thus, even after pleading I would only be a foster and they would not be part of my program, my licensing body forbade me to bring them in. On the bright side, two of them should be undergoing testing this morning for the Beagle Brigade, those cute Beagles at airports who sniff out contraband. Please keep them in your prayers!

So many times, I have looked around this year and rejoiced in the dogs here because I like each of them in their own way :). They are blessings to me and to those who visit and someday SOON, to new families wanting to add brightness to their lives - even over a baby gate!
