Silverwalk is a small, private, licensed dog sanctuary in Cape Girardeau County, MO. It specializes in Beagles, other hounds, and senior, special needs dogs. There are always dogs needing adoption and sponsorship. Please see our website for more information about Silverwalk and our dogs needing homes.
May 24 - The HW+ Beagles from Marion Animal Shelter are here and have started their treatments. There are 3 - Fred, Ginger and Lilah. Fred and Ginger are believed to be litter mates. Lilah is older w/a dumpy figure who makes sure you know when it is meal time :).
On a sad note, Rosebud, the "Saint Pyr" featured in the April Inaugural post, was at the spa (vet's) and found dead one morning - it is believed she bloated :(. Pyr people including Caroline and Barbara were working hard to find her an only dog home when she died. Silverwalk is saddened at her loss as is everyone who knew her.
On a different note again, Silverwalk accepted two older Beagle mix puppies who are being called Chip and Monk (I like Tony Shaloub as an actor as well as his USA show, "Monk."). Currently, they are outdoor dogs w/little trust for humans but are coming along! Both tested NEGATIVE for HW, Ehrlichiosis and Lyme - whew! What a blessing. They LOVE being w/the pack. Farrah the Foxhund especially enjoys playing w/them.
Silverwalk is also looking forward to bringing in a senior Black and Tan Coonhound from NE MO and a senior (just) beautiful F Beagle from TN who was rescued and nursed back to health by a very caring and compassionate finder.
Prayers are daily said for our servicemen/women both here and abroad as well as for those animals, children and people who suffer abuse and exploitation.
